About us
Rathgeber, a middle class company, has specialised in the production of temperature controllers for heating and cooking appliances.
The company was founded in 1965 by Friedrich Rathgeber. At that time the main products were controllers for coal-fired stoves. Consistent development work soon resulted in additional areas of application, which in addition to coal, focused on wood-fueled stoves. These controllers remain today an important part of the product range, for which the main applications are slow-burning stoves, stoves with chimney, inset fires, cooking stoves and water heaters.
Following the takeover of the Langenscheid company in 1982 production was centralised at the present address and the product range extended to incorporate decorative and functional components, mainly aluminium extrusions, for heating and cooking appliances.
At this time the company took up a new direction in the field of electromechanical temperature controls, which began with a development for electric night storage heaters. Further derivatives followed for, amongst other applications, ovens, space heaters, boilers and water heaters.
Friedrich Rathgeber retired in 1997 and transferred to his son Klaus Rathgeber the management of the family-owned company, which is still renowned today as a reliable and capable partner.
In March 2002, we acquired out of Emerson Electric their thermostat production in Székefehérvâr, Hungary, where we still maintain a production plant.
